Mr. NARAYAN VARMA
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Narayan Varma is a practicing Chartered Accountant since 1956 and a
graduate of Bombay University.
N. Varma was, past, Secretary of Western India Regional
Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a member of
the Editorial Board for “The Chartered Accountant”
– monthly journal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of India and a member of the Committee on Ethical Standards &
Unjustified Removal of Auditors of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India (ICAI) for two years. He has served on
many other committees of ICAI.
He was the President of
# Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society
for 1978-79.
# The Chamber of Income-tax Consultants for two
years – 1989-90 and 1990-91.
Presently, N. Varma is a member of:
1. Managing Committee of Bombay Chartered
Accountants’ Society (BCAS) and member of the Editorial Board
and the publisher of Bombay Chartered Accountant Journal
2.Member of the Journal Advisory Board of “Income tax
review” and the member of Law and Representation Committee of
The Chamber of Tax Consultants.
3.Member of the Direct Taxation Committee of Indian
Merchants’ Chamber.
He is joint author of many books published by Bombay Chartered
Accountants’ Society including – “Tax
Audit Manual”, “Investment Deposit Account
– section 32AB of the Income-tax Act – A
Study” and “Accrual System of Accounting
– A Study”.
N. Varma was the founder president of Forum of Indian Professional
Organisations.
N. Varma was National President of Indian Jaycees (Junior Chamber) in
1970 and was founder Chairman of The Jaycees Institute of Individual
Development from 1980 to 1984. He attended the Jaycees
International World Congress in Dublin, Ireland in 1970 and Honolulu in
1971. He was elected to the position of Vice President of
Jaycees International at the XXV World Congress in Dublin,
Ireland. During 1971 he was responsible to Jaycees
International for assisting the Jaycees (Junior Chamber) Organisations
in Germany, Austria, Israel, Switzerland, Cyprus and Greece.
N. Varma was the President of Western India Automobile Association,
organisation of motorists (WIAA) for the year 1987-88.
In the past, he was the local representative of the Experiment in
International Living and member of its National Council. He
led the group of 150 youth from India to USA in 1966, and in 1962
represented Experiment India at International Congress in Italy.
N. Varma is at present Deputy World Chairman and Member of the Central
Council of Giants International. He was the Founder President
of Giants Federation of India during 1980-81, and founder Chairman of
Giants National Council during 1985 to 1987.
N. Varma is the trustee of few trusts including:
